Cheating in Education

Who do we blame for the lack of academic success among students? The goverment blames the teachers. The parents blame the teachers. Much of society blames the teachers. The teachers blame the parents and students. Who is really responsible for getting an education and becoming a responsible adult? Where does that appreciation and value begin?

EDUCATION: When are parents going to be held more responsible...

EDUCATION: When are parents going to be held more responsible...: "As an educator in the public sector it is a known fact that teachers are blamed for student failure. The blame has become so extensive that ..."

When are parents going to be held more responsible for student behavior and academic success?

As an educator in the public sector it is a known fact that teachers are blamed for student failure. The blame has become so extensive that teachers are seeking ways out of being blamed out of fear for their jobs.

The state of Georgia is now trying to put into place teacher's pay being based upon student performance. As an educator I cannot make little Johnny learn or behave so that he can learn if I don't have parental and administrative support. The average child believes that what their parent says is "the word of all words." If the parent is not supportive of the educational system, school system, school administration, classroom teacher and respectful of all rules and regulations as well as daily academic assistance to their child the teacher has already failed. The teacher cannot be the village alone.

The federal and state governments have made it a point to belittle teachers by blaming them for student failure, making huge pay cuts to their salaries, implementing threats, and seeking other ways to refuse educational funding. Teachers are the only professionals that have been politically ridiculed and demeaned. Teachers are who have taught other professionals their professions and yet we are the least respected and paid. The people cannot respect teachers if the federal and state governments don't respect us.
